Message language
Messages OpenApp sends you on its own (invitation codes, WhatsApp replies, account-combine requests, confirmation codes, incoming-call and portal-message alerts) are written in your language. OpenApp supports English, Chinese (Simplified), Spanish, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Japanese, Arabic, Italian, and Hebrew.
How the language is chosen
Section titled “How the language is chosen”OpenApp uses the first of these that applies:
- The language you chose under Locale in Settings → Profile (dashboard), or under Message language in Settings (mobile app).
- The language your app runs in. The dashboard and the mobile app tell OpenApp which language you use them in, every time you open them or switch languages. Choosing a language in your profile always wins over this.
- The language the sender chose for an invitation, when you were invited and don’t have an account with a language yet.
- Your organization’s default message language, if an administrator set one.
- English.
Most people never need to set anything: using the app in Hebrew means your messages arrive in Hebrew.
Setting your own language
Section titled “Setting your own language”Open Settings → Profile and pick a language under Locale, then save. Choose Use app language to go back to following the app. If your identity provider owns your locale, select OpenApp as the source for that field first.
Inviting someone
Section titled “Inviting someone”When you invite a person by email or phone, choose the Message language for the invitation. It starts at your own app language. It applies only while the person has no language of their own: if the contact already belongs to an OpenApp account, that account’s language is used instead. Resending an invitation reuses the language you chose.
Editing a pending invitation
Section titled “Editing a pending invitation”While an invitation is pending you can change its Message language and, for site and apartment invitations, the person’s role. Choose Edit on the pending invitation. You can’t change the email or phone.
Saving doesn’t send anything, and the link and PIN already sent keep working. The person who opens the link sees the invitation as it is now: who invited them, the organization, the site, and the role. To deliver the new language and role, choose Send again when prompted. Sending again issues a new link and PIN, so the earlier message stops working. You can send again a minute after the last send.
Organization default
Section titled “Organization default”Administrators can set a Default message language on the organization page (Resources → Organizations → your organization). It is used for people who have no language of their own and for invitations sent without one.
Reports to OpenApp support
Section titled “Reports to OpenApp support”When you report a visitor call, OpenApp support receives the report in English with your details exactly as you wrote them, followed by an automatic English translation when Gemini translation is enabled. The report also tells support which language to reply in. See Privacy and audit.
