OpenApp vs Brivo for cloud access control
Brivo is an enterprise cloud access control platform — mature APIs, scheduling, and audit oriented toward commercial offices and standardized reader hardware.
OpenApp applies enterprise-style roles, policies, and audit to residential and hospitality shapes: apartment delegation, guest invites, virtual intercom, and mixed openers — not only commercial readers.
When Brivo fits
Section titled “When Brivo fits”- Corporate office with Brivo-compatible readers and controllers
- Central IT owns all doors; minimal per-tenant delegation
- Wiegand/OSDP deployment already standardized on Brivo
When OpenApp fits
Section titled “When OpenApp fits”| Need | OpenApp |
|---|---|
| Shared apartment building delegation | Per-unit resident management |
| STR / hotel guest invites | Time-bound portal access |
| Mixed IoT openers | Integration engine |
| Virtual intercom at lobby | Virtual Access |

Verkada and similar video-security platforms overlap on “cloud security” but are a different category — OpenApp focuses on physical entry orchestration, not VMS.
Audit note
Section titled “Audit note”Both platforms emphasize auditability. OpenApp today: dashboard review + invite usage + integrator-side logging on entity actions — not outbound audit webhooks. See Query access and audit activity.
